I am looking for someone who has survived an inoperable glioblastoma lesion. My mother will start chemo and radiation next week. My mother is in good spirits, but I wish surgery was an option. The doctors have told us that even with treatment, she will only live another year, but I only want positive thoughts. (I know I need to also be realistic). Is it realistic to think that this disease will take my mother away from her grandchildren (ages 16 and 5 months). She is only 56. Thanks, Tedra

My husband has also been diagnosed with an inoperable gbm4. He has has the radiation and chemo temodar. They help the tumor in check for awhile, but now it is growing. HE is now on and IV medication BCNU carmustine. It is administered every 6 weeks and has side effects which must be monitored with weekly blood draws. The percentage of success is less with this drug, but we hope we are of the successful percentage. They have also given us 12 months to 15 months.
