Just to encourage anyone who has recentl been diagnosed I was diagnosed almost 40 years ago and I have had a few blips and several changes in medication I am approaching eighty and still lead an active life

I have been diagnosed for a few years now.

Though I have to say that it's getting more scary now that my doctor just called me to get me on hydroxyurea, since the revised result hit 850+ (revised coz of equipment malfunction?)

Would you be able to share your experience with hydrea or hydroxyurea? I haven't had anything beyond aspirin, and I really don't have a picture of where I am with 850 and what's to come.

My experience with hydroxyurea hasn't too bad bearing in mind I was on it for 20years and taking 2X500mg per day ,I then had a non healing ulcer as a side effect so had to come off it I have since been on I other medications but have had to come off them for various reasons I am now taking 3 x 500 mg hydroxyurea a week and seem to be fine, my haematologist keeps a close eye on me hope that helps
