Hi my name is Shelagh, I'm 64 and British. I was diagnosed with EMPD around 8 weeks ago. My consultant recommended a 16 week coutse of Aldara 5% imiquimod cream, 3times perweek, she recommended MOn, Wed and Friday overnights, the cream needed to be on for around 8 hours and the area uncovered i.e go comando!. She also warned the treatment is painful and unpleasant. She was right, the first 3 weeks are very painful but I stuck itout and by the 4th week things were very much very, very much better. I was also given emolulant wash and cream which proved very helpful. I now have virtually no pain  and the vulva is much less agivated looking. I saw my consultant yesterday and she agrees - so far so good. I've seen other posts were people have given up on this treatment after 2 or 3 weeks because its so painful but my experience so far is that if you bare the first dreadful weeks the results seem quite good.
