Hello Marcia, Paul woke up vomiting and in pain then his neck started bleeding. Everyday is an adventure. He fell asleep after that and now he showered and is trying to be normal. Whatever that is. I took a half day off work. And now I m heading to work. How are you and your husband doing today? Monica

Paul chose not to get treatment because of the side effects bechase he never wanted a tracheostomy or a feeding tube. Paul wanted to live life without going to the hospital for treatment and or complications that could happen. I felt it was his best choice since most neck cancer recurrs.

That is exactly why Ernie chose to not do the treatment. Wanted top live what life that was left without going through treatment that would not work anyway. Unfortunately today he fell outside a store we were shopping at and broke his hip. We live in a town in New Mexico that barely has a hospital. We (my daughter and I) took him to the emergency room and they xrayed to confirm the break. Ambulance just left to take him to a hospital 85 miles away for surgery. I will go there tomorrow. I am on oxygen so I needed to go home and recharge my tank. It is amazing how downhill one can go in 7 months time.  Tell Paul to hang on he may still have some good times.I told my husband this is our NEW NORMAL.lol

Oh my I am so sorry to hear this news. Yes that is a good way to put it an new normal. Well personally we don’t like it. Sounds like you will need to take up residence closer to the hospital. They will probably send him to rehab after that. Unless you have an facility near your home. It seems like when one thing happens it is a trickle affect. How long have you been married. Paul and I are married it will be 15 years in April. We started late. Lol Hang in there for your new normal. Take care of yourself most importantly. I forget to do that. Monica

You have a great attitude and I appreciate your calming messages I know chocolate does make my world go around.i am so sorry to hear about your husband not being able to walk on his leg. Well take it day by day. We are hanging in there and Paul has increased his pain medicine. His appetite has diminished too.

Monica how are you and Paul doing? We are still hanging in there. Ernie is in nursing home for rehab for his hip. Hope to bring him home in a week as his tumors are growing and I want him comfortable. I had my daughter go stay with him today as I took a needed break as I was making myself sick. I am sure you know the feeling we get about taking care of them. It is hard to take care of yourself but you know you have to. I hope your are doing well. Marcia
