Heavy bleeding 8 days post LEEP

I had a LEEP last Wednesday, May 23rd. I didn't bleed at all post procedure, but did have quite a bit of pain. Two days ago, I lost a very large chunk of black tissue (size of my forefinger -- the "scab,") but only had blackish watery discharge with smaller pieces fo the black stuff since then. Last night, I started to spot. I woke up at 2 am with very intense cramps -- the kind that feel like an ice pick to the uterus and radiate down your legs. They continued up until an hour ago.

When I got to work at 8 this morning I started bleeding heavily with dime-sized pieces of black tissue and blood clots. I called my doctor's office at 9 and left a message iwth the triage nurse. She didn't call back until 10:45 and by that time I'd changed my pad once and then switched to an overnight pad. Went to the restroom 5 times and the toilet water was turned red and clots fell in the toilet.

My period isn't due until Saturday.

At first she told me this is all normal and was from the medicine falling off. She said the bleeding and cramps and black tissue were all to be expected. My doctor didn't want to see me. I pushed the issue and they made me an appt for this afternoon.

The bleeding has slowed down a little since then. This may be an early heavy period, but I've always had a 28 day cycle with no deviations for years (seriously). I don't want to waste anyone's time...

Advice? Does this just sound like an early period and not worth being seen over?

It's hard to say. Apparently LEEP often causes an early period, so it might very well be true in your case. It sounds like your scab fell off around the normal timeframe. Still, occasionally women do get infections or their wound does not heal in a timely fashion and both of those things cause bleeding. If you are not in pain, and you do not have a fever or really gross smelling discharge those are all good signs. Still, better to be on the safe side. It's good you pushed an appointment with your doctor just to double check everything is okay.

How did it go with your appointment ? I had my leep done today. I'm 38. I had an endometrial ablasion done in 2010 also known as the Nova sure procedure. So I do not have periods anymore.  I'm not bleeding at all at this point just yellowish discharge. I'm hoping I don't bleed it will really freak me out
