Hi, I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking where/if any Tocagen trials are going on? Or are you being referred to one and you'd like to know about other people's experiences? I know nothing about it, but can help you with research if you're just looking for information. I'd also like to know if it's something my sister might be eligible for, so I'm up for the heavy lifting of research.

Thanks, Beth

Is this a gene therapy? This document speaks about various Toca Gene therapies: "Treatment Options for Glioblastoma and other Gliomas" Original document authored by Ben A. Williams.

It's pretty easy to find in a google search, and then search within the document for "Toca." I think it's chapter 9. Also, try going on FaceBook and joining any of the GBM support groups. They're really good about responding.

Don't know of that trial, but my wife has had success with the CMV trial at MD Anderson. I would also reccomend that if you go back for a resection, that you look into the ALA-5 clinical trial for the removal of the tumor at UCSF. Good luck and God bless

hi!  ok, so this is a virus that after the 2nd resection surgery.  they inject the virus in the cancer cells.,  then they have reprogrammed the virus to act like a chemo receptor is how i took it.  then they will administer the toca chemo pill and it will activate the virus to attack the cancer cells.   they do this many locations.  vanderbuilt is just a close one for us.   you could check their site to see if it is offered in your area.   their is favorable results so far.  there is just a lot of criteria to get "accepted " into the trial.

Thank you, thedayna1. I'll look at the clinical trial website and see what I can find out. I'm afraid my sister may not be accepted into any trials since her initial Karpinskly Score was too low. It's not fair to use a score generated so soon after completing radiation. Her cognition was not good that day. Maybe they'll retest when we're back at Duke on the 20th.  I hope this goes well! Your name is Dayna?

Thanks again!  Beth
