treating neck restriction/collagen build up after dissection

Hi, I hope others may be able to help me.  I have had a total thyroidectomy and left and right radical neck dissections.  There were actually 3 surgeries involved within a 4 month period of time.  One of the surgeries was a re-opening of the surgical site due to infection.  I have had some physical therapy work on scar tissue and will have some more in a few weeks.  However, my neck is terribly restricted both left to right and vertically.  I also have the burning sensation in my chest, chin following the last surgery two weeks ago.  What other home remedies are there to help loosen the neck area as well as reduce burning sensation (in addition to ibuprofen/Tylenol.  I welcome your ideas.  Thanks!

Maybe you have some costochondritis going on.  I know I have pretty much since my thyroid was removed in 2009.  I didn't even have a neck dissection.

It has gotten really bad recently and I just discovered this specific condition about a week ago.

It costs a bit of money, but I've been using the backpod for a few days now and it is improving my symptoms dramatically, and thankfully quickly.

I would say it's worth checking out and discussing if it would be appropriate for you with your PT or MD.

Feel better!

Thanks so much for your help.  I've never heard of costochondritis or a backpod, but will look up both on the internet.  I am glad to know that you discovered a relief for neck symptoms and have graciously shared the same with me.
