Cachexia

After my second surgery for OC, I had lost a total of 20lbs, give or take.  I look anorexic.  My Oncologist noted Cachexia as a concern.  I have not been able to gain an ounce in 2 1/2 months.  I have an appetite but for obvious reasons cannot overload on sugary foods.  Anyone else have this?  If so, how are you handling it and are you successful in overcoming it?

Dear Barb,

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and your difficulties with cachexia. If your oncologist noted cachexia as a concern, you would think that he would advise you regarding your diet.  It is so good that you still have an appetite!

I am not a doctor or specialist of any kind.  I am just a regular person that likes to try and help others and has gone through cancer battles of loved ones. There is of course, always a load of information through the internet on how to combat cachexia and what to eat.

Please ask your oncologist to guide you!

Praying for you.

Dear Punky,

Ty for your reply.  I see oncologist next week and my weight will be the first thing to talk about.  There have always been other concerns in previous appts that superceded and with the little time they give you, never got to address it.  I have researched the condition everywhere and it scares me.

Thanks again.

Dear Barb,

It's great that you are being your own advocate. Whatever concerns you, you should bring up!

It is totally understandable to be scared. Cancer sucks and is scary. Hang in there. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
