Young caregivers out there...?

Hello, my name is Mari and I'm 17 years old. I have a mom who is struggling with Ovarian cancer and has advanced into her bowels.

I noticed that on this website that there aren't that many discussions by young teens or adults who are caregivers for their prents.

I wanted to open a discussion for people like me who are going through similar things and want some sort of outlet while keeping their life a bit private and ambiguous.

Any kind of comments or ranting is welcome. Just be polite around here.

Mari, its hard to be a caregiver and more marriages/relationships change/end because of cancer. Try to get a caretaker from a state agency, and then just be there for doctor visits and to make sure your mother is getting the proper care from the caretaker. It will ease your burden and help your mother...some things children should not see/do unless they are older. You have college to prepare for and to attend. You can be a big help by being there to note side effects to mention to the doctors, by keeping tabs on her at home care by an experienced caretaker from a state agency, and to research what foods/tips/tricks will make mother more comfortable and healthier on road/journey through cancer.
