It depends on the type of cancer but head and neck cancers have the highest successful cure rates. Reoccurrences are rare as I have only known of 4 since being on CC for almost 11 years. I had tonsil cancer and given a 50/50 chance when diagnosed 11 years ago. I have been cancer free for 10 years. Absolutely no sign of cancer for those 10 years. There are many esophageal cancer survivors on this site and I am sure they will share their treatment’s success with you as well. Have a blessed day - Diana

In July 2016, diagnosed Stage IV with a single small met to the liver, plus a few lymph nodes in my chest cavity. Adenocarcinoma at the gastroesophageal junction, main tumor about 3 cm.

Chemo only, FOLFOX for 12 cycles.  No radiation, no surgery.  Supplemented with high doses of curcumin throughout treatment and intermittent fasting.

Complete response, no evidence of disease on PET/CT scan in February 2017.  Continued clean scans since then, latest scan was August 1, 2018.  No evidence of disease.

2 year survivor so far.

Chemo every other week.  Started with difficulty swallowing.  Noticable improvement after the very first chemo.  No problems swallowing anything at all after the 2nd chemo.  My only symptom was difficulty swallowing, so I knew that treatment was working when I could swallow food normally again.

Thanks for responding, similar case weekly chemo with (placitaxel 100mg & cisplatin 50mg ), difficulty of swallowing gotten better after first cycle  , curcumin part of daily dosage.

Thanks hope to get a similar NED results in future .... And after how long pet Scan is done (when on chemo ) i have heard pet Scan is usually dont after some weeks when on chemo or else the results can have false positive didn't quite understand it.....

Great question. I was diagnosed with EC Aug 9. Pet scan on 16th. Doc on 17th. Tell me Stage. Anxiety overwhelming me. The waiting and wondering. Could to hear some with stage 4 are at least surviving. Some doing well. I don’t know u but going thru this together might help. Rocky
