My father had undergone subtotal gastrectomy 7 months ago and we thought he had recovered.  He is now suffering from thick mucus in his throat and esophagus and has hard time eating or drinking.  Is anyone here suffering the same and what did you do.  I am from Philippines, thank you.

If you have not consulted his doctor yet, you should do that right away.  I would be concerned about infection.  Even a realatively minor one could cause him a lot of problems.  There are in the US over the counter meds that can help with thinning mucus that have guaifenesin in them.  There is also a website called "No stomach for cancer" that has information and message boards about gastric surgery and recovery.
