Lobectomy recovery time?

I am 70 years old.  I had a lobectomy on Oct. 26, I had the drainage tube out on the third day and came home from the hospital on the fourth day.  That was 4 to 5 weeks ago. I still don't feel like I can go back to work. I still have quite a bit of pain. I get so fatigued out of the blue it seems, that I have to just lay down and rest. I never know when it is coming? I can't trust myself to commit to doing anything.

I am just wondering if there are people out there that can share how long it took them to get back to a normal routine, like back to work?

I only had a partial lobectomy (segmentectomy) but it took me at least 2 months to feel back, like getting up from bed by myself, going to the store, etc. My drs.did tell me that it would take at least that long and to be sure to let work know, pain would last awhile due to breathing. No way to immobilize lungs.I hope you get to feeling better soon. It’s a rough operation - I suppose most of them are - so give yourself some time.

Thanks for the fed back. It is now 12/20 and I am going back to work next week.  But honestly I don't know if I am going to do well with it or not.  I only work part time, and they are forgiving so if i have to make another plan I will.

I don't know, maybe I should take more time? I guess I will find out next week?
