PET Scan questions

Hi there, and thanks for reading this. I had a PET scan a week ago and am still awaiting the doctors confirmation of either positive or negative for the lesion in my lung being cancerous. But my question is this: the tech running the PET scanner had stated after the test was done, (the doctor who reads the scans and passes diagnosis on to the doctor who ordered the tests) she said he wanted to wait an hour then rescan to check the amount of dissipation of the radioactive dye from my lung. Is this common place or do you feel she was implying that my lung "lit up" as I hear others describing happening with their positive results.

I am so worried as to what the results will be, I have lost a sister to lung cancer and a brother to liver cancer. And I'd like to know from anyone who can help, what should I do or request be done, should this result come back positive for cancer?

Thank you in advance!

I also forgot to mention, since the scan (about an hour after the second scan was complete) I developed a headache and it still hasn't gone away. I have managed to get it at a tolerable level with tylenol and motrin.
