My husband had radiation and chemo for esophageal cancer in 2000 than had had radiation only for recurrent cancer in 2003. He has had a problem with eating solid food since than and has lossed a lot of weight. He drinks instant breakfast and ensure everyday. He can eat noodles, mashed pototoes, cereal if it soaks up in the milk and eggs. Does anyone have any ideas on other stuff he may eat that would help him gain some weight.

My Husband too is going through radiation for lung cancer and pharnyx cancer. Both the cancer and the treatment have caused a massive amount of weight loss. He is on ScandiShake which with milk has over 500 calories. I mix this with BeneCalorie (320 calories)for 1,000 calorie meal. He has helped. You can get your drug store to order for you. It comes in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. The BeneCalorie can also be ordered from the drug store. He also likes adding ice cream which adds more calories. Our dietitian also recommend GlutaSolve with is a "glutamine-instensive" medical food. This helps heal the esophagus. Hope this helps. God Bless.
