My husband has adenocaranoma of gastro esophageal stage 1-2. We are interested in anyone who has had the surgery or opted for chemo and radiation. We have heard of the tomotheapy and would be interested in someone who had that treatment to reply to us. Any success stories with herbal treatments welcomed. thank you

I was diagnosed with stage IIA esophageal cancer (adenocarcinom at the GEJ) in Oct. 03. I had five weeks of chemoradiation and then surgery (Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy)in Feb. 04 at M.D. Anderson. I was up and running a few months later and have have had follow ups every 3 mos. since--so far so good.

I am very happy to hear you are up and running. Keep it up! I need your help. Mom age 82 was just diagnosed with stage 2B. It was an accidental diagnosis as it was picked up while she was hospitalized with a brain injury. She cannot walk and has lost her short term memory. Since you have been through the treatment would you think it might be overly aggresive of the family to recommend this to her. Or is the treatment a fairly tolorable way to give her some more good years of life. We are faced with a tough decision for a wonderful lady.

I know the surgery is a long one (7-8 hours) and I had to take a stress test before they would clear me for the surgery. There are, however, several different surgical proceedures and a surgeon would be better suited to answer your question. I have met someone with a mother of similar age who had the photodynamic therapy at M.D. Anderson in lieu of surgery and it was apparently well tolerated and successful.
