Would appreciate getting experiences of people with any treatment for Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma.

We have been told that none of the Chemo drugs really work on it and there is not much available in the pipeline .

Thanks

My father had a 9lb retroperitonial sarcoma removed from his psoas muscle 1 year ago....and the surgeons did not get clean margins....there was residual tumore left in the surgical bed...before the surgery he had undergone 6 weeks of radiation....after the surgery 6 cycles of chemotherapy....very harsh cycles...it was an extremely difficult treatment.....my father had to be hospitalized for each cycle....and in between cycles he became very sick and spent much time in the hospital....the last cycle was in April....the last 2 pet and ct scans have not found any metabolic activity.....the doctors say its remarkable....I also know that sarcomas do not typically repspond to chemotherapy....my father and I  feel so blessed....he will continue to be scanned every 3 months for the next 2 years....and I pray each time he gets scanned.....that we will get good news.....I hope this has helped you...my thoughts and prayers are with you....

Thank you for your message. My wife is presently on alternative and herbal medicines and last scan was encouraging. You may want to discuss the following herbal supplements that were prescribed for us:

Curcumin-It is a turmeric extract-- recommended by a doctor friend who is head of cancer research in MD Anderson, Houston-- dosage 8g a day, in four doses, each dose with 5mg of Bioperine

Coriolus mushroom extract,Green tea extract and Vitamin D3-- recommended by Integrative medicine dept of Sloan Kettering , new York

She is also taking Homeopathic medicines-- Graphite 200, Thuja 30, and Conium 3

Also taking some Ayurvedic medicines--these are made specific to the patient

Hope this is useful for your Dad.

Best wishes

My husband (age 47) was just diagnosed with retroperitoneal sarcoma. The tumor was high grade and weighed about 30 pounds. The surgeon said he removed it all along with the kidney. Also told us that chemo and radiation have not been found to be effective at this point. We go for our 3 month follow-up after Christmas. This is very scary - especially that the doctor said that his tumors had a high probability of returning. Wish there was something else we could do...

Thanks for your response. In my wife's case the surgery was aborted because of a thin sheet of sarcoma over the intestines.

She is using the herbal supplements, Curcumin, Mushroom and Green tea extract , Vit D3. Besides these she is taking homeopathic medicines, Thuja 30, Conium 3, Graphites 200. She is also taking Indian medicines-- all are herbal extracts.

If you want to know dosages etc please let me know. We too hope that it will work.
