My husband had a stage 3 tumor in his right kidney...the only way they found it was because they did a CT scan to check his spleen. One doctor scared the heck out of us saying it may be in the big veins and he would have to go to Mayo Clinic for surgery. We normally stay in NM in the winter so we came back to Wisconsin and sought another opinion. The doctor here did the MRI and it WAS NOT in either vein so the surgery was performed right here near our summer home. It was contained in his kidney...he was doing fine-gained 15 pounds and we were hoping the 6 month CT scan would be good-unfortunately they found 3 spots in his lungs so we are headed back out west since we can get the same treatment of interluken and interferon. He is taking immunolin and olive leaf extract and we are both taking fluor-esence...if we didn't have this cold both of us would be feeling pretty good. This treatment is not the strongest but it does have some success and since the spots are suspicious we hope it works...trying to eat more fruits and vegetables...and hoping the sunshine will help keep him up so he can fight it off. Good luck to you and make sure the doctor is good-that he answers all your questions.

Hi Sharon Lee, I cannot believe this, but my middle name is Lee also although as you can see I spell my name with a Y and not an O! I am going through a very heart wrenching experience with my brother, Jeff, only 41 years old. He was first diagnosed with renal cancer in March of this year, had his right kidney removed and it had already spread to just one area in a lymph node near his lung (mediastinum). I have worked in the health care field for over 25 years so we do have the advantage of my being his patient advocate as well as loving sister! I have been with him for the surgery, every single test, scan, etc., physician's visits. I did a tremendous amount of research on the Internet and believe me this has been an educational experience for me and my entire family. My other brother, Tony, is only 11 mos. older than Jeff! We just lost our father 1 1/2 years ago so this has been a nightmare to say the least! At any rate, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America are the best. (or I should say one of the very best) Have you read Vicki Girard's book - received information from them??? Even though we did not go there (due to distance factor and that was the only factor), we found and excellent specialist in kidney cancer at the Hillman Cancer Center here in Pittsburgh, actually the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, #1 in the state of PA and #11 in the country. This facility is brand new and STATE OF THE ART. The people, physicians, staff, etc. are just wonderful. It really has been a tough experience just with insurance, etc. alone and you just must keep fighting, fighting, fighting! I cannot emphasize that enough. Vicki's book is a MUST read. There are so many good books out there to assist you with nutrition, emotional aspects of the disease, etc. Counseling is a must when going through this. Once again, my brother is fortunate to have the best of the best even with his psychologist who treats cancer patients only. She is available to him 24/7 as is the UPCI Staff. A nurse is always there to help the patient with anything they need, i.e. meds., instructions, etc. My brother for example was having nausea quite moderately the other evening and within 5 minutes the nurse had called in the Compazine for him! This is the type of treatment you want, this is the treatment you deserve. Accept no less! I will ask my brother if he would mind responding to you via e-mail. Please let me know where you live, your e-mail address, etc. I would love to help as I can't even imagine what all of you go through. Kidney cancer is a relatively rare cancer - making up only 3% of all cancers so it is unpredictable. The treatment my brother is receiving is supposedly the best!!!!! At any rate, feel free to e-mail me and we can go from there. Where do you live? Have you had any treatments at all? When were you diagnosed? I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in anyway I can - I think my brother could be a big help - he's a real trooper and my hero!! God Bless Sharyn S.

Hi Valarie, Just found your message and my heart goes out to you and your family. My daughter- in-law was diganosed in early Sept. with Stage 4 also. I have been doing all the research because they don't have a computer. I have also dug around and since the live in north Idaho, the closest Major cancer clinic is in Seattle 5 1/2 hours away by car. She had the tumor removed from her kidney and it was the size of her kidney. There are 5 lesions on her lungs, 3 on one and 2 on the other. She has been accepted into a clinical trial using a drug that my kids can't remember the name. It's a shot every week for 8 weeks and then they do a ct scan and MRI to see if the drugs have done any work. It's experimental and may not do anything for her. I will keep you posted. If this drug doesn't work then they say they will put her on interferon and interlukin. Keep your spirits up. How are you doing now, God Bless Nancy

My name is Vinnie and my father also has metastatic renal cell carcinoma. He was diagnosed June 27, 2002. He has been through a lot. I will tell you that this can be a very unpredictable and aggressive cancer and that you should not spend a lot of time deciding on a treatment course. Do something now. My father underwent some immunotherapy (interleuken/interferon) and began to have side effects, so they had to stop it almost 6 weeks ago. The cancer has spread a lot since diagnosis. I am not trying to sound as defeated as it appears. My father is a pastor of a wonderful church and he trusts that God can heal his body. So, the absolute best medicine I can suggest is prayer and faith in God; no matter what you see with your eyes. Allow your spiritual eyes to guide you.

Dear Sharon, I am currently battling 'adrenal cancer' and in stage IV (so my Oncologist says). Don't lose hope. The Lord is with you all the way (Joshua 1:9). There's a wonderful book on how to battle it in the natural way with vegetables, fruits, and vitamins, called "A Cancer Battle Plan" by Dr. Colbert (sorry, can't remember the first name - think it's Ron). I'm currently doing chemo (mitotane) and natural herbs at the same time. Herbs are a wonder! If you need more info on the herb, let mw know. I'll be praying for you. Remember hope, prayer, nutrition, and herbs are the key to combat this ugly disease of 'cancer'.

Hi Nancy (Sharon), Just re-read my previous message. Sorry, the name of the book was different. The book by Dr. Colbert is "The Bible Cure for Cancer" and the other book is from Dave and Anne Frahm on "A Cancer Battle Plan". I just got another book as a birthday gift from my sister called "When God meets Cancer", which is full of testimonies and written by a colon cancer stage 4 survivor. Her name is: Lynn Eib. As I am now, a year after my diagnosis, I'm doing better than ever in my life. I Praise the Lord for these books of encouragement and knowledge. Continue the faith! In Christ's love, Aura PS - if you need an herbalist contact, I can give you mine. However, we reside in California. Let me know.

Hi Aura, My daughter-in-law has kidney cancer stage 4. I read with interest about the book and I will try to find it for her. I would like to stay in touch with you and Val and Sharon and share your stories and encouragement with Cindy. I am going to try to get her to go over to the library and send her own emails to you all. Personal contact with others in her situation will be helpful for her. God bless Nancy

Hi Nancy, Sorry, but I responded to Sharon (I'm new at this website, so it's going to take some take for me to get use to). Anyway, as I said, before, the books you need to get are: A cancer battle plan by Dave and Anne Frahm; A Bible Cure for Cancer by Dr. Ron Colbert, and When God meets Cancer by Lynn Eib. The last book is basically on testimonies, and the author herself is a cancer survivor (colon cancer stage 4). Thanks for your response. Remember nutrition, herbs, and FAITH are the key to battleing this awful disease! God bless, Aura

Hi Nancy, It is good to know someone else who has a loved one in the same situation. I wish all the best for your daughter-in-law with the clinical trial. Tomorrow is when we find out which treatment schedule our doctor wants for my husband. He is very good and I have high hopes that this will do the trick along with the herbs. One note though-we think the flor-essence may have caused my husband's sinuses to bleed so he is not going to take it anymore. I can use it-it seemed to work good for me. Hugs, Val
