Any suggestions of relieving gas pain?

My mother has pancreatic cancer stage 4 with mets on the liver, and is is undergoing chemo ( gemcetabine + abraxane ) and seems to be responding well :-)

Before this , in the 3 weeks that she was taking Xeloda pills daily- her stomach got totally messed up with constipation and abdominal gas. She was extremely uncomfortable with gas pains and felt sick from belching and the constant feeling of bloatedness .

It's much much better now but still happens occasionally.

We have tried GasX, Club Soda, lemon Grass Tea, Ginger tea , antacid pills like Digene and tumms...none of which have been very effective. We've also tried to cut out the gassy foods like cabbage, broccoli, beans and lentils.

I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions on preventing and relieving gas pains.

Thanks so much.

We use homeopathic carbo veg. It is the homeopathic form of charcoal. Charcoal capsules used to be used for gas. It brings the gas up quickly and relieves the pain.

Please let me know if you have found anything to help with reflux and gas. I am unable even at this point to eat, drink water or anything. The bloating is very painful added to the pc pain. Thank you

Hi,

There is a herb call peppermint tea from the health shop or supermarket, it is quite a lovely drink and relieves gas and helps relax you. Hope this helps Leggos

I drink peppermint tea every day to help digestion and ease gut aches and because I like it. When I'm gassy I find fennel tea gets the wind up (or down as the case may be!) much better. Fennel as a veg works well too either roasted or chopped into a rissotto, stir fry etc

Actually the digestive system would be damaged during chemo, the patient loses her/his appetite and difficult to digest the food. It leads to bad digestion, constipation and gas bloating... etc because the probiotic (good bacteria) in the intestine are killed by drug. It's so simple to release these suffering by taking some supplements :
1) probiotic
2) digestive enzyme
3) oxygencleanse.
All these are very important to solve the problem you mentioned. Absolutely I've been using these products to help my clients and my family.

Cancer patients don't take beans that is indigestive food.
May God bless you.

Hi I know this is a very late response but I really like the bloating solution described at:

https://impacthealthtoday.com/the-gas-bloating-remedy/

The other user who talks about digestion is also right in that digestive enzymes or probiotics could be helpful. Although not all probiotics are very good and it seems you want one with a lot of different strains.

Modern science shows that foods that can cause "gas" can be food sensitivities, which happen when the digestive tract gets "leaky gut." There are a bunch of different foods which are common food sensitivities but I won't get into that. It's shown on the website above (on foods like gluten and the 10 day food sensitivity diet).

Anyway good luck and I hope that anyone who finds this can get the gas relief they are looking for because bloating is a serious pain.

My reply is when you take tablets make sure drink less water and do not take water and solid food at a same time. keep 4 hours gas between taking water and eating meals. In this way you will get rid of gas pains. For more information and detailed knowledge http://gaspain.info/gas-pain/
