my best friend, who was 50 this past february, lost her battle with breast cancer june 24, 2011. i thought i was prepared and was moving through the grief process, but am finding it more difficult each day. lost my dad to lung cancer in '96 but did not see him suffer the way my friend did. just trying to find support and ways to keep moving forward.

Hi

I don't think we can ever be truly prepared for the death of our loved ones. I was a hospice nurse for 18 yrs, knew the horrible EC diagnosis and what we could expect in the months to follow and yet I can say with certainty I was NOT prepared for the devastation that has followed the death of my husband. I push myself thru each day that has followed these past 4 months but this is not the place I want to be without him. I go on because I know that is what he would have wanted. First there is that numbness and so when you really begin to feel the depth of grief it is a much worse feeling. Here for you. Irene

thank you for the kind words. it is gradually getting better. last week i remembered something funny about my friend and found myself looking up toward Heaven (as if she could see me) and laughing out loud...that sure felt like progress! good luck to you, as well. Blessings.--Karen
