hospice nurse figured out something new

Today I was reading from Widow to Widow. So much pain we all feel and until you have been there you just aren't able to get it.

I thought as a hospice nurse for 18 yrs I should have been more prepared even though I knew it would be intense going thru it personally myself. Just had absolutely no freaking clue what this grief would feel like.

However I realized that even though I was compassionate with my patients and their families, once my patient died I was forced to move on to the next patient. I wasn't able to remain and care for the widow or widower. To see and help them through their stages of grief. I was clueless at where I'd left them.  Irene
