Thank you.  I do my best to stay positive for Matthe but I must admit when I am alone the fear and anxiety set in and I am finding it harder and harder to cope.  His Oncologist pushed for Matthew to skip Yervoy and go straight to Keytruda
because he said the results were more promising than Yervoy. Matthew is BRAF negative so maybe that has something to do with why Keytruda didn't work for him, hopefully Yervoy will.

If you ever need to talk, please feel free to message me on this site or through email . This last year was one of the scariest times of my life. I don't think I have ever felt so alone and terrified in all my life. Even though Pat is in remission you always have in the back of your mind, what if it returns. Pat had his 2nd MRI today since being in remission. Keeping the faith it has clear results. Pat is also BRAF negative. I am not sure why some immunotherapy work and others don't.

Sending prayer your way,

Rebecca

If you have Melonoma, ask your Oncologist to put you on the max dose of KEYTRUDA.  I have been at the Angeles Clinic West Los Angeles for 1.5 years with Stage IV lung cancer.  I have seen hundreds of Melonoma patients come in there and met many that have been coming there for years.  I am telling you that everyone I have met in the waiting room (and we all talk) is either in remission or somewhere on the path to being gone.  This includes people with brain - lung - and other organs from metistatic melonoma. I have only met two other lung patients like me and they are also a growing sucess story.

Don't wait, this is the latest and greatest medicine for a very deadly cancer.  I have seen it and enjoy the results with my own eyes and body.  If you need proof, I can send you a doctors article written about me and others on this drug.  There are little to no side effects.  (itchy spots - had some swollen cheeks and dry eyes)

God Bless you, your family and God for his will injected into the minds and hands of our best scientists!

I have recently been diagnosed with stage 4 Triple Negative Breast & lymph node cancer (3 Negative means 'no hormonal receptors' to pinpoint the right chemo or medicine to combat this Yosimite Sam type of cancer /=b).

I already had lupus, sjogren's disease, Raynaud's, and CTD (all autoimmune diseases). PLUS a form of Lyme Disease while bathing one of our family dogs - who had contracted it from infested rats that were hanging out in our composting area of back yard. Doctor put me on mega dose of prednisone which has done every kind of damgage including; oseoporosis with 24 "spontaneous fractures" over 12 years, cataracts (in my early 40s and was previously wellness and health professional and former athlete in good physical condition), heart problems, edema and weight gain (in spite of healthy, moderate eating), deteriorating wrists and permanently dislocated thumbs, etc,

We lost our family home, sold most of our furniture, and went thru savings trying to find answers and treatments. Now, doctors have found this insidious cancer (guess they are ALL "insideous!"). The Chemo meds my Oncologist is wanting to use may cause further harm to my heart, bones, and immune system and, worst of all, they are LEAST EFFECTIVE on the type of breast/lymph node cancer I have.

I DO have the genes for cancer having lost a father, grandmother, and great grandmother to lymphoma and breast cancer and have an older sister that we helped through a year of chemo and radiation for breast cancer. She has been in remission for 12 years but had the type that was lower stage and, had hormonal receptor.

We live in Central Texas. Do you or anyone on this board know how I could get Keytruda for treatment? I haven't a lot of time left (according to Oncologist) before it spreads from lymph nodes in lower back/thoracic region, nodes under my arm and cancer in breast.

ANY help or recommendations on how to get keytruda as treatment would be so very appreciated.

Based on most of my research, which obviously you should consult your doctors first, Keytruda might not be the right drug for you. I may be completely wrong bt if you have a history of autoimmune disease, Keytruda may exacerbate it since Keytruda boost your immune system to fight cancer (which from the side effects I read might caused other autoimmune problems). Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your insights on keytruda. I'm now talking with MD Anderson and Dana Farber, and hopeful that they are considering me for one of their newer treatments aimed at TNBC andn, IBC (Stage 4).

From what we (and friends) could find, keytruda is a wonder drug and, yes, if one has very pronounced autoimmune diseases (the diseases have progressed extensively) then it could be a problem. The conditions I have (other than Raynaud's and Sjrogen's) have been low key so researchers will really evaluate whether the Keytruda would still be more beneficial than harmful.

Thank you again. This is such an unusual type of BC and so aggressive that it often seems like a whole different disease, and any ideas or information others can share make a difference in understanding it better.

Healing Blessings!

Yeah Keytruda has had some fantastic results.

However for melanoma at least it only works for about 40 percent of patients.

I took it for six months but it didnt work for me at all and i had a lot of progession.

I am currently doing alternative treatment.

The best drugs for mel now are a combo of nivo and ipi. They are pretty toxic but they have around a 70 percent success rate. Success rate is measured by shrinkage of tumours by up to 30percent.

I believe to works for many other cancers too. I never had any side effects from Keytruda so no deblilitating chemo like side effects.

Chemo is on the way out and the new Pd1 drugs are the big new thing.

I am sorry to hear this news. I have not been on this site for a while now because my husband has been doing very well on his treatment on a Keytruda clinical trial. He too has Stage IV metastatic melanoma.  He has been battling this since December 2016, 4 treatment plans later, this trial has been a miracle worker.  He started off with 16 tumors throughout his body and he is now down to 4 which are very minute in size.

I am surprised however, that your Onc did not start with the Yervoy, only because the Yervoy is given as drug of choice before the Ketruda. It helps to jumpstart the Ketruda.

Maybe thats why it hasn't worked the way its suppose to.I wish you both well and success. This is a horrible disease, stay positive, stay strong and have faith.

My husband passed in Feb.  Interferon is what they gave first.  It was holding for 7 months until more was discovered!  He then started Yervoy & Opdivo (told it is the same as Keytruda) and after only two treatments he had a stroke from 3 brain lesions!  After that he was at home with hospice and died two months later.  After the initial diagnosis they didn't do another CT scan of his brain only Pet scans which another Oncologist told me the Pet scan doesn't show the brain well enough.  Typically melanoma goes to the brain when it speads.  Therefore he didn't receive the best care.

I am very frustrated over this.
