Has anyone had laser surgery for VIN? My surgery is May 4th & just wondering what to expect. How long did it take you to get back to work? Any helpful tips post surgery? Thanks!

I had laser done in October 2014 for sever dysplasia of the vulva.. it went a lot better then I thought it would. did everything for care instructions at home and was back to work after five days ( my choice) ... My doctor said I could go back to work after two but with my job being so physical I gave it a few more days... To be honest I had no issues what so ever with the surgery and recovery... It's what comes after that ... That I had no idea what was going to happen next... Not trying to scare you but I thought I was going to be all better.. Not the case for me... It's been an emotional roller coaster.... It took me until January to fully heal but I also have lupus so that could be the reason why then it hurt really bad to have sex well that's because the walls were so thin from the laser so was put on estregen cream to help thicken the walls again. Seems to be working for the most part just a small spot still bothersome.... I do have mild changes so I will continue to keep using the cream and will go back for a check up in October... I keep being told that I may have to have the laser done again... I know you will be fine physically and I can be here for you emotionally .... Try not to worry to much there are many of us that have and still are going through this... God bless and good luck

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I can't believe you went back to work so soon! My doctor said at least 1-2 weeks. I have some spots on my perineum as well as vulva so he said sitting will be painful for awhile. I hope you don't need the laser again & I hope the same for me too! My doctor did say there is a 30% chance of recurrence but that means 70% chance of it not recurring. Pretty good odds. Thank you for offering emotional support that is very much needed! I'm nervous about the surgery & just want it done.

I hope all went well for you and I hope it was a speedy recovery for ya... I didn't get good new on mine. in September I started having some pain that was not normal to me so instead of waiting til the end of October for my check up I went in sooner and it came back vin I I I very quickly... Today I had to have a wide local excision! He tells me he believes he got it all but that's what I heard before. He even had to take more then he thought at first. I am very emotional of how it looks now but I just want this gone!!!! If this comes back again I will have to do chemo medication! I wish the vey best for you ... Please let me know how your doing

I am so sorry to hear you had to endure another surgery. I hope you are healing well and that this is the last of it. My healing went well and no complications. Unfortunately, I have started getting itchy there and my vulva is bright red. Don't see any new lesions though so maybe it's just a yeast infection. Buying some cream tomorrow & hope that's the end of it! Saw my dr in August & everything looked fine. I go back in November for a recheck. I really pray that you don't have to do the chemo med! I will pray for a quick recovery for you!

thank you ... I need all the prayers I can get... I go back for a check up tomorrow so I hope I get good news for once... That's great your doctor is staying on top of things and checking every three months .. I will be requesting that mine does that from here on out and maybe if there is a next time that it won't be so out of control... Best wishes to you
