Shaving...

My husband had a Total Laryngectomy 31st December 2013. His recovery has been miraculous.

However, he likes to wet shave and due to the surgery, he has no feeling in his face or neck, so he frequently cuts himself. His Speech Therapist went mad at his last session.

Can anyone recommend a really good Dry Shaver so he doesn't look like a victim of "Sweeney Todd" every time he shaves.

I've looked at a "No No Pro", which has great reviews, but not much about it being any good for mens stubble.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

My husband just had his laryngectomy last week. He bought an electric razor for now but would also like to wet shave. I didn't know that it would be that difficult. Anyone who has had a laryngectomy and does wet shaving, please respond to this post. We would like some input.

Hello my dad had a laryngectomy 3 weeks ago. If you font mind me asking what was the outcome of your hysbands shaving issue? My dad is anxious to have a shave but the hospital doesn't seem to be able to answer when or how he can shave and what to do with the stoma while shaving? Kindest regards

Hi, my husband had an electric razor that they helped him with before he left the hospital. He just couldn't shave any of the sensitive/painful areas.

Thank you so much for your help. May I ask you how did your husband deal with the stoma? Did he use anything over it when shaving, so hairs don't get in? And did he shave closer to it once is was healed better? I'm very grateful for you helping us, the nurses and speech pathologist don't seem to have answers to the 'nitty gritty' questions and we feel a bit lost in some areas.

Hello, may I ask if and where you found the answer/s to your questions about shaving? My dad has just had a laryngectomy and the hospital don't seem to be able to answer our questions about shaving?

We got a shower guard that came with the kit he got at the hospital. My husband passed away last October so he never really got to the point of wet shaving. The shower piece that fit on in place of am HME worked real well even for shaving. Before he could use HME's, he would hold a thin wash cloth over it just to be safe. I also got some stoma bibs that helped him.
