Tonsil Cancer and eating/drinking

My husband of just over a month has tonsil cancer. We're an older couple so we're still figuring things out after years of being single.

It hurts him. I have the idea of when my children were infants and I made homemade baby food. The difference is, his taste buds are foggy and his throat is on fire..from ear to ear and the back of his mouth. He also wears dentures.

We have "magic mouthwash" and opiates. I'm looking for ideas/recipies that I can spice up and titilate the taste buds he has left. I think he can still taste fruity stuff, but the salty/savory is dull.

He only has 7 weeks of erbitux once a week, and radiation 5 days a week. We just began week 3.

Any ideas.

"Welcome " to this site.....sorry for your situation....my husband and I are in our early 60s and he is 3 1/2 mos. post chemo/radiation for stage 4a tonsilar cancer with lymph node involvement. I copied recipes of foods to make in preparation of what to come but ended up not making anything. Due to the effects of rad/chemo, to the throat, Boost Plus was his nutrition beginning about the 5th week and lasting until about 2 1/2 months post trtmt. Ask the dietian on hand for recipes. The packet we received at the initial visit listed websites addressing foods. I wish you well.....it is a tough journey but you and he will make it...take one day at a time....and keep posting.
