Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer

Hi everyone

My mother in law was diagnosed about 2 months ago with aggressive stage 4 ovarian cancer. In april, she had a regular scan of her ovaries, but nothing could be seen. However, in early september, she was rushed to the hospital with a swollen belly. She had an emergency hysterectomy and after the tests, they found it was cancer (she has both slow and fast growing cancerous cells). About a month ago, they also found it in the peritoneum and the latest scan show 3 suspicious "lesions", 1 on her pelvic bone and the other 2 on ribs t2-3.

She had one round of chemo in october and will continue to do so until january, when she will undergo another surgery, followed by chemo until may.

I should mention that she's 49 and has been a heavy smoker since she was 17 (she hasn't quit even now).

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
