Inconclusive results

This question is in regards to my mother in law who was taken to the ER on Sunday for abdominal pain/discomfort. Now doctors tell us Stage 4 ovarian cancer. The doctor said today that her biopsy results are inconclusive. What does that mean exactly? From my own experience and from my research, it means that something was done incorrectly during the process of the biopsy and that another sample would need to be taken. However, in this case, they are simply sending it to another hospital for review. Should this cause us any more worry? Does this mean that there may be something more to the story that we may not be anticipating? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
