should my husband stop chemo after two good mri?

l have posted before about my husband Michael's condition;  he had had 3 bad mris after surgery, his cancer cells has spreaded from the right lobe to the left, causing 3 new satellite lesions just in 6 months. l have prayed to God everyday and God has shown me the miracle.thanks to God Michael is starting to have good mris. he has had two good mris so far, one in December showing one lesion has become smaller, the other two's enhancement has degressed. second good mri was in Feb, showing all stayed unchanged. Michael is going to see his oncologist next week who will decide whether Michael will continue with temodal or stop for a break.

anyone has ever stopped chemo because of condition being stable? l'm just worried that this ugly thing will grow even crazier once the targeting med is stopped.

I know a 9 year gbm survivor who has chosen to stay on Temador for the last 9 years!  I know several suvivor's who have stayed on for years in fact.  A safety blanket of sorts I guess.  For me, I couldn't wait to stop taking poison, which it essentially is, although certainly has it's purposes.  I've been off all treatment for 3 years and remain recurrence free.  I also have no visible tumor left after surgery, if I did, I may feel differently.  No easy decisions on this journey.  Ask doctor many questions, my wife asks,"if this was your son, what would you advise?"  Personalizes it.  Best of luck,

dodger

My husband stopped temodal after only 15 days, cause of blood counts too low, never gave it to him again, and this was two years ago, This is only our story, maybe it's a miracle for us too! All the best for your husband.

My wife has been on a daily low dose (metronomic) of Temodar for 8 months now. Since being on it after her last surgery, the last two MRI's have been good, no regrowth. Prior to that, none of her MRI's were good. We have no idea if the Temodar is working, or the disease is stable in spite of it, but she plans on taking it as long as her bloodwork is good. There is the fear that it could return if she stops taking it. It's difficult to know what to do in these situations.

Dodger, great to know you are doing so well! You mentioned people staying on Temodar for years - at what dosage? My husband has had 12 cycles at over 400 mg. The cumulative effect is tough. He only feels really bad for about a week, but that week has gotten worse every time. Christi

Hi rward, great to know your wife is doing so well now. after some bad MRI results, we sent my husband's tumour for a gene test, unfortunately his tumour was tested to be unmethylated, his oncologist was considering changing his meds, then miracle appeared. l also don't know why after several bad scans, temodar seems to start working now. l can only think it was from GOD's blessing. our oncologist wanted my husband to continue taking temodar for another two cycles, and do another MRI in May. hope it is a good one too.

May GOD stay with us and bless us forever.

It's good to hear that the temodar seems to be working. Hopefully it continues to do so. All the best.

Hello Rossini, I tried to contact you with a private message but I don't know if you have received it. I spent so many nights on this forum looking for hope, trying to find a story similar to our story. We are also from Italy. My husband was operated 1 year ago and stopped all treatments after 23 days of radiotherapy and 30 days of chemo. Never went back on chemo. I would appreciate if we could stay in contact and exchange our experiences that are very similar. Mary
