PLEASE hurry and do SOMETHING!!!! IF You do NOT have it in the brain you have a good change for clinicals. GO now fast before it metastisizes to the brain. DO do chemo if you want to do a clinical.... Go quickly because we wanted to see a kidney specialist and it took 5 weeks and Ron developed brain cancer and then it is over to have a chance to be cured. I don't know how young you are but Ron is 60 and he is in stage IV. Intron-A has depleted him of all his muscles......... I hope you have better luck than Ron has. God be with you!!!!!

I didn't mean to say DO chemo because if you do chemo first you have no change of taking clinicals either. I have researched for weeks till we found out it went to the brain. Sorry for the typo!!!

I really don't think Pat found the proper resources because they don't even use Chemo for Renal cell carcinoma. However, I agree that time is of the essence.

By the way, don't rush to get into clinical trials until you speak with a doctor about Interleuken II. Clinical trials are not always the best for the patient. Interleuken is the only proven treatment as of yet.

Thank you for your responses. I am currently on a regimen of Interleukin-2, Intron-A and Leukine, 12 days on, 18 days off. The oncologist is trying to obtain a newly FDA approved drug, Anastin, for me. It is used for colon cancer, however has "proven" effective for renal cell also. We are encouraged by the Dr.'s aggressive treatment and other individual's success stories, including yours. How long ago was your brother's treatment (i.e., how long has he been in remission?)

My brother had his kidney, vena cava, and spleen removed two years ago. Three months later his lungs were riddled with cancer. After three, two week doses of IL2 he as been in remission for over a year.

Kidney/renal Cell Carcinoma With Mets to Lungs

I was diag. with kidney ca in May 2003, left kidney was removed, there was mets tumor on tail of pancreas which they also removed. I was cancer free for 14 months, then it showed up in the chest, small nodules in lungs, no symptoms. I was immediately put in clinical trial of Avastin and Tarceva, a double blind study in Boston, MA. I was fairly stable for 7 months, now I am off that study and starting a new clincal trial, which is completely new there, with a phase II by Pfizer, SU11284. You can look it up in Pfizer's web site, under new drugs. I am anxious to start this. I am now 49 years old. Where are you living and where have you received your treatment? How were the side effecdts of Interlukin? I am hoping not to have to use that toxic method.Good luck and best of all prayers to you.
