Hello all, I see lots of requests for this brain tumor progression timeline: http://www.btbuddies.org.uk/hospice-palliative-care/51-symptom-timeline.html My 80 yo Dad is in his final days of a 21 month battle with GBM. I keep reading the timeline closely. He has been following along with many items on the 5-7 and 2-5 days remaining lists. A word of caution to those who are not as close to the end. My Dad has...

Here is a working link to the brain tumor progression timeline: http://www.btbuddies.org.uk/hospice-palliative-care/51-symptom-timeline.html My 80 yo Dad is 21 months post diagnosis with GBM IV. He had a surgery in July 2015, followed by radiation and Temodar. In April 2016, he had a second surgery with no further treatment. He had pretty good recovery of life quality for awhile after his initial surgery and t...

Thank you for all of the feedback.  As always seems the case with this disease, apparently there's no obvious pattern or timeline.  Just have to take things one day at a time!

My 80 year old father has been fighting glioblastoma multiforme for over 19 months. Within the past few weeks, his balance has been getting worse, and my Mom told me yesterday that it has really declined even more the past few days.  He's stumbling around and falling frequently. Although I know GBM progresses differently for every patient, can anyone share how long this phase lasts before mobility becomes imposs...

GBMPaul, I'm very sorry to hear about what your Mom is experiencing and for such a long time.  My Dad is somewhat in this state as well, although much more functional.  He was diagnosed in July of 2015 with a right temporal GBM.  The tumor was resected, and he did the standard temodar and radiation.  By December of 2015, it was back.  In April of 2016, he had a second resection, and much of h...

I don't understand how an oil applied to the scalp will benefit the brain. Any beneficial chemicals in the oil will be absorbed into blood vessels of the scalp. Those blood vessels supply the scalp and the skull bones, not the brain. Blood doesn't flow from the scalp, across the skull, and into the brain.

Prayers of peace and acceptance for you and your family.  I am very sorry for the sudden shock you've experienced and the loss of your father.  This disease is very unforgiving.

I have posted a few times about my father, age 79, who is nearing end of life with glioblastoma.  He is experiencing a lot of paranoia and confusion. He's receiving in home hospice care, but attempts to relieve anxiety and other symptoms have not worked well and have made him feel worse (they tried lorazepam, temazepam, and morphine).  My Mom decided she wanted him off of these medications because of the se...

I'm very sorry to read about your father and his poor quality of life.  I think you are doing the right thing by honoring his wishes.  Based on his symptoms, it sounds like the cancer is very advanced.  If you have hospice services available, they should be very helpful.   My own father was diagnosed with glioblastoma in July of last year.  He tolerated radiation and temodar very well, but h...

I'm glad to know your father is at peace and wish the best for your family.  This disease is certainly unforgiving.  I'm sure it really helped your Mom that both you and your sister could be with her during that rough lasthma few weeks.
