My Dad passed quietly on April 30th after 11 days without fluids. His body was strong, but glioblastoma had just ruined his brain. His death was merciful and a relief. No more suffering and no more indignity.

I'm very sorry.  She is very fortunate that you stepped up and became her caretaker.  It's gut wrenching to think that she had to find someone to help her at such a young age. My Dad is now at 13 days with no nutrients and 9 days with only miniscule amounts of water on a couple of occasions.  It's hard for me to believe he is still hanging on.  He is barely waking up now even during changes. &nbs...

I am so sorry. ,Praying for the perfect healing of your daughter. It's maddening that after what this disease put some people through, the end can drag on and on, robbing not only the patient's life but keeping the caretaker held hostage as well.

My heart pours out to you about your daughter. I can't even begin to imagine what you are experiencing as a Mom dealing with this disease. As crazy as it sounds, the dehydration has actually improved my Dad's condition. He is moving around more and is a little more responsive. Apparently the dehydration reduced the excess fluid in his brain, making the symptoms better. Although he did manage a few sips of wate...

Thank you, Punky.  Prayers to your family for your FIL.  I just keep wondering why this has to continue.  He had a second surgery one year ago that severely impacted his memory, concentration, etc.  His life quality has been low since then.  The past few weeks before he became bedridden were especially bad with lots of falls.  My Mom is exhausted from caretaking.  I hate this damned...

My 80 yo Dad is in his final days of a 21 month battle with GBM.  He was hospitalized last week and on IV fluids.  He has been home for 5 days with no fluids (can't swallow).  We are very thankful that he appears to be pain free and restful.  However, the bedside vigil is really hard.  I know he wouldn't want this undignified end, having to endure diaper changes and being helpless.  I fe...

Hello all, I see lots of requests for this brain tumor progression timeline: http://www.btbuddies.org.uk/hospice-palliative-care/51-symptom-timeline.html My 80 yo Dad is in his final days of a 21 month battle with GBM. I keep reading the timeline closely. He has been following along with many items on the 5-7 and 2-5 days remaining lists. A word of caution to those who are not as close to the end. My Dad has...

Here is a working link to the brain tumor progression timeline: http://www.btbuddies.org.uk/hospice-palliative-care/51-symptom-timeline.html My 80 yo Dad is 21 months post diagnosis with GBM IV. He had a surgery in July 2015, followed by radiation and Temodar. In April 2016, he had a second surgery with no further treatment. He had pretty good recovery of life quality for awhile after his initial surgery and t...

Thank you for all of the feedback.  As always seems the case with this disease, apparently there's no obvious pattern or timeline.  Just have to take things one day at a time!
