I forgot to add the exercises I'm working on are "urge delay"- it's a tough one, pelvic floor exercises with specific types of breathing pattern (3-5 min), and a type of massage of the tendon/ligaments in the pelvic floor designed for women. The last one is to help with vaginal issues that arose from radiation but are supposed to also help the muscles in the perianal region-hope I got that all correct. I'm really in...

I live in Oregon. The article came from a surgery clinic specializing in colorectal cancer, in Virginia. So, weeks ago, I did start taking the citracel with about 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, morning and evening. I wasn't doing the daily regimen they recommended ( I am now, though) but I will say I think taking the citracel (could be Metamucil-whatever your body likes best) has made a difference vs taking it with...

I understand, completely! Sometimes, I'll be standing with someone or a small group and I'll pass gas without any warning-very embarrassing ?? I am 49. I have just started seeing a perianal physical therapist and am hopeful that between this "new plan" and working with the therapist that things will improve. I know it'll never be as before, but hopefully I can get to a new normal that is bearable. We have to be pati...

I, too, share the same problems. I was sent this article from the dietician at the cancer center from which I am a patient. I've only just begun following their plan so I can't give much feedback but I'm willing to try this plan in the hope it'll bring some much needed help. I totally related to your feelings when you mentioned the surgeon acting like it wouldn't be too bad without a rectum. You're right! They have ...

I'm not sure how old your post is, I'm new to these sites. I had my rectum removed in September of 2016, ileostomy until April 2017, when it was reversed. I have the same problems you mentioned. I've heard the frequent passing of small stools is called "clustering". The burning, for me, is awful, and I have it most of the time. I was told when the clustering happens, it's due to constipation and to take 1/2 bottle o...
