I would check to see if they could do radiation but only after Avastin stops working. I did have a stroke the day after my radiation. But long story short, I live for today. Prayers to you! Ellen

I took my first dose right after Christmas '09 and felt so posioned. I decided not to do anymore. A few mths later my NO said I made the right decision more Temodar does not prove to make any difference. Ellen

I had another good mri most important I QUIT SMOKING! FIREWORKS! I did 3 Avastin treatments not for tumor growth that stopped working a long time but for the swelling. We are running out of options.  Ellen

I sure hope it's low sodium- I'm on 3000 units of Keppra and 1800 Tripletal and was still having seizures. Up until 3 wks ago when I took my 1st Avastin treatment. Wishing you and your husband the best. I know when I started having seizures it was growing so be prepared for that:( Ellen

Tell everyone a little bit about yourself- I'm 37 with 3 children and was diagonsed with grade 4 anaplastic olgioastrocytoma September 3rd 2009- Had surgery on the 18th of September 2009 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. My tumor was the size of a walnut. They got about 98% of the tumor and did the low dose chemo/radiation for 6 wks did one round of 5/23 temodar and felt SO poisioned. Researched online and found that many hospitals wait until the tumor starts to grow back to get more chemo. So I opted not to take anymore. I don't regret my decision.
I was tumor and seizure free for one wonderful year.

In sept 10 my mri showed either scar tisssue or regrowth by march 11 we knew for sure that is was my cancer and not radiation injury. I have been on temodar at a low daily dose for 3 months. My MRI showed growth in June (temodar wasn't working) which shocked me because I thought it would and I started Avastin the next day.My Neuro said I would be able to tell if it's working or not because my right side would be clumsy. Five wks out and so far so good. I do believe that diet is a huge part of keeping my tumor from reoccuring. I'm really trying hard to be more active, avoid processed foods and eat lots of fruits and veggies and I gave up diet pop.

MRI Aug 9th the tumor shrunk from 7 mm to 2 mm grateful that Avastin is working!!!!! My children are 18 ,7 and 3 and I have to deal with my husband a 62 yr old VN vet that is the most negative person I have ever known. But he loves me and is the father of my 2 youngest and I love him but it's complicated.Thankfully I have my mother and extended family and my church to get me through the rough days. I need to remember to thank the Good Lord for every day and cherish every moment. I worry alot (wish I didn't) but at night I think about every wonderful thing that happened that day . Which almost always involve my children.

"Live like you were dying! " I will forever be changed... probably for the best in appreciating every precious moment life although the fear of seizures and sensitivity to light and sound blows. If you are reading this I'm sorry that cancer has found you here. God Bless!
