I went back to work while I was still in treatment (chemo & radiation). Had to ride the bus and I wore a hat when my hair fell out. Which, by the way, was ONLY from the radiation, for me. The chemo I had (BCNU) did NOT causes ANY hair loss. The radiation, however, caused permanent hair loss! Most people don't know that because I've perfected the comb-over ;-)

Thank you for your kind words and support. My doctors still insist on annual MRI's so I will definitely keep this site posted of any further developments.

I don't think it was anything I DID or DIDN'T do. It just NEVER occurred to me that dying wss a possibility. It wasn't until I had a new family doctor tell me it was an honor to have a an astrocytoma survivor as a patient! I was kinda shocked. Every duvet since has been impressed at my survival too.

Thanks for your comments. I don't think you hijacked anything. I WANT to hear from other survivors. My tumor was primarily grade 3, but grade 4 in the center. I was recently divorce and raising 3 young girls by myself, so I never even questioned my survival rate. I KNEW I would survive! I had to raise them. People would ask me what my prognosis was, and I told them I had no idea. I had never asked that question...

My doctors have ALWAYS told me that if I live long enough, it WILL come back. In fact, EVERY doctor tells me that! I don't like them ;-) I suppose they know what they're talking about, but now that I've out lived anyone on their records, they don't have any data, so they just tell me to "carry on" :-D

23 years ago I had a Grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma removed. The surgery was followed with chemo and radiation. I am trying to find other long term survivor stories of the similar cancer. Please reply if there are any out there who have been over 20 years clear. My doctor had one of 20 years clear that just returned. I am hopeful that they are wrong about me and mine will not come back!
