RE: Neuropathy

by JustJulz - July 12 at 5:54 PM

I spoke with someone at the treatment center who had neuropathy.  Only at night when she laid down, feet & calves would ache so bad it woke her up every night.  She got a medical marijuana card.  The 1st night after going to dispensary,  it stopped & she hasn't had it since.  Smokes a little before bed.  If that is an option, you might want to give it a try.

Thank you & I agree with researching will drive you crazy.  I am just looking for ideas to help relieve some of the discomfort.  His neck is better.  We called the Rad Oncol office & they said keep doing your stretches.  AH what, no one told him to do stretches.  So he started immediately.  The pain is in his hips now & is very uncomfortable.  We will keep at it.  I so appreciate every suggestion & we will try anything to make him comfortable.

Thank you for the information.

My husband was diagnoised in Jan with same thing.  Finished treatment 5/30/18.  How are you doing?

Neck, pain & stiffness

by JustJulz - July 09 at 4:25 PM

Husband's last treatment was 5/30/2018.  He had 35 proton treatments to the right side of head & neck.  He has a very stiff painful neck.  Aches but hurts bad when he jars it by hitting a bump, sneezing or coughing.  Now feeling pain in his hips.  Has anyone had any of these side effects from radiation?  His Oncologist thinks the spinal cord is inflamed from the radiation.  He tried the pain meds, but they don't cut it.  Advil works for a while but has to take a lot.  I realized we are only about 6 weeks out from treatment, but just curious if this is normal or if we should be getting more help.  Thanks!

That was my question too.  My husband just finished 5/30/18.  Hoping for the best but trying to get as informed as possible about the future.

They told us Aquaphor & Eucerin.  By week 4 (38 proton treatments total, 5/30/18 was last treatment) my husband was in a lot of pain from the radiation to the right side of his face.  I went online did some researched & orderd Miaderm & Camwell, both off Amazon. All natural & developed by Radiologist Oncologist.  Instant relief when we applied.  We never went back to the Aquaphor, husband said it just made it feel hot.  His face was red but never peeled or bubbled & never bothered him again after we started using the new creams.  The Camwell was great but he was very sensitive to taste & smell & so he used the Miaderm.  You can get Miaderm with 4% Lidocaine, but he never used that tube as the other took away the pain.  Says to use it 3 times a day, he wasn't very consistent, maybe 1 or 2 if lucky.   Hope this helps!!!
