I can't believe no one on this board has heard of the hair sparring Penguin cold caps! They truly do work. I have helped many women with changing them during their chemo treatments. It saddens me to still find so many unknowing and needlessly suffering hair loss as a result of chemo. There is a thread on the breastcancer.org discussion board. Hundreds of women have used the caps and share tips and their experiences o...

Have your freind go to the emergency room at a local hospital. Have her tell them she is in pain. That might speed things up a bit. Medi-Cal  approval can take some time, meanwhile she needs treatment. Los Angeles County has four county-run hospitals and partnerships with about 100 private clinics that care for indigent adults and other patients. Here is a link to a local Medi-Cal office in Hawthorne, CA http://...

The only way to know for certain if it is cancer is to have a biopsy done. There are different types of biopsies. I think the one I had done was an ultrasound guided biopsy. They use a needle with a large hollow core to take a sample. The first time I had this done it didn't leave a scar. The last time it left broken capillariy veins that have never went away. I'd take your doctors suggestion and give it some time. I...

There is a website devoted to this issue it's called taxotears. There is a 6-8% risk of permanent hair loss when taxotere is the chemo regimen. It's unfortunate the doctors gloss over that fact. Especially so when hair loss can be prevented entirely by using a cold cap during chemo. Penguin cold caps and Elastogel caps are what is available to the public.

I've had pain ever since my surgery 3 years ago. I believe it was caused by the axiallary lymphnode dissection. I couldn't even move my arm above my hip for 2 months. I did PT for 18 weeks and got better range of motion but I still have constant pain. From what I've read 50% of peole have chronis pain after mastectomy. I wish Dr.'s would acknowledge this becuase there are ways to prevent it.

You DONT have to lose your hair! Cold caps are available that keep you from going bald. I have helped many women save their hair. Unfortunately doctors don't tell their patients about this technology. Read about the caps here http://penguincoldcap.net/ After you have your first treatment you'll find chemo isn't nearly as bad as you've imagined. It's the anxiety-fear of the unknown which is so stressful.

There are many cold cap therapies that those undergoing chemotherapy can use to prevent baldness. Some work better than others. Educate yourself because most doctors won't tell you about them. Most are not keeping up with these current technologies and don't care either way-cold cap use is not increasing their income. Search and you will find; Penguin cold caps, Elastogel caps, Digitana and Paxman. There is a whole t...

What is Dr. Dellon going to do to remedy this? From what I've read the nerves can be damaged without any cutting done to them.
