Hello Gene, Do you know if would be normal for Radium 223 treatment to result in a lowering of one's PSA ? I was of the opinion, maybe mistaken, that Radium 223 would not be expected to lower one's PSA. Prior to my second treatment, something stopped my PSA from rising and lowered it also (slightly). I'm not sure whether to attribute it to the Radium or something else. Take Care, Monty

Hello Shellie, That's great that you uncle's ALP was down to 400 from 1000! Hope it continues to drop. My Hgb was a little low (13.3) on June 29...when I received my first Radium 223 treatment. Have to really watch it as the Radium can cause it to be low, but today I was told it was all good. Hope your uncle's blood test is a good one. Take Care, Monty

In January my PSA had started to climb each month. After 11 months of being on Zytiga, it was apparently losing its effectiveness and my MO dropped it for my in April. January my PSA was .8, Feb. was 1.3, Apr. was 3.6,...June was 19.9. Prior to my June lab I had tried IP6...taking 7 scoops in the morning and 7 in the evening in an attempt to slow the rise, but it did not seem to help. I had given up on the IP6 but ...

With a 400 PSA I would find a very good Urologist and immediately go to him/her to be checked out.

Hello Shellie, I decided to reduce the dosage as it did not seem to helping with my PSA and ALP. Both my PSA and ALP were in the normal range (although rising) before I begain taking it. I took 14 scoops daily (7 in the morning and in the afternoon on an empty or nearly empty stomach) for two months...and my PSA and ALP continued to rise. Take Care, Monty

Hey shellie, Doing okay...yes, still taking ip6, but at a reduced dosage. Just doing 4 scoops every other day. Gave up on it helping with my PSA. Great to hear that your uncle is doing okay. I believe your uncle is ver lucky to have you as a caregiver. I'll be starting Xofigo (radium 223) in the very near future. Will start a new thread here (cancercompass) asking if anyone has experience with it and is willing to ...

Hello Shellie, I'm okay...PSA is continuing to rise...a little over 4. ALP is high 155. One oncologist has recommended radium 223. Another (yesterday) told me no way...absolutely not the right time for it...would not consider ordering it for me. So I guess I'll ask a third. The one who said "no", had concerns that it would shut the door for me for any future chemo. From what I've read about it...not sure this is com...
