I have not been here for many many months but for some reason decided to log on this morning. My husband did sixty session of HBOT for necrosis of the bone where teeth was removed before radiation. It slowed necrosis to a small degree; however, he still has to go to oral surgeon frequently to remove pieces of the bone. His doctor says hopefully it will stabilize at some point. Take care and good luck with all thi...

Hi Susan, I think I have posted before about throat dilations. My husband has had thirteen dilations. Each time he has one it has increased the area a little bit. The last one he had was in March. The doctor told us that was the last one he would do because the last few had not yielded any increase. He can now swallow enough food and liquid to sustain hisnweight. Radiation killed the cancer -praise the Lord - ...

Joe,  such a wonderfully positive post.  I totally agree with everything you said.  My husband is almost three years post treatment and life is very good for us.  He is feeling great and eating which is a blessing for us since he had a feeding tube forever!   This is a brutal treatment but posts such as yours is an inspiration for all of us!   Treasure the goods, live life to t...

Cancer - the scariest word in our vocabulary!!  This is a tough road but you will be o.k.   My husband really really struggled with swallowing issues - 13 dilations - but he is cancer free - Praise the Lord!!  This forum can and will be a very important part of your life!   Good luck and God Bless You!!

Two years ago my endocrinologist found a benign nodule on my thyroid.  It did double in size in six months but the biopsy showed clear margins.   I felt that I needed a second opinion and that doctor did the ultrasound and agreed that it was o.k.  Well - the past two months or so I can feel something in my throat.  At times I have difficulty swallowing.  I have an appointment with my dr....

My husband did the HBOT sessions because of non-healing of his jawline. it did help some; however, small pieces of bone continue to surface. He has no side effects of HBOT. Good luck with all of this - Hugs and prayers!

My husband is 17 months out of treatment for head and neck cancer. He had a tumor that encasulated his right tonsil, tumor on the voice box, and spread to lymph nodes. He is doing well; he is cancer free but has many residual effects from damage from radiation. I know that we are very blessed; however, our life is so different that is sometimes difficult for both of us. I hope to chat with those who truly understand.
