I've noticed that most posts in the last few days have absolutely no responses.  Today is August 20, and it has been since August 13 since anyone posted a response to any thread. I feel bad when I see so many question unanswered and the lack of conversation on this forum.  I want you to know that there is a very active forum for esophageal cancer patients at this link: https://www.smartpatients.com/conver...

Chemo every other week.  Started with difficulty swallowing.  Noticable improvement after the very first chemo.  No problems swallowing anything at all after the 2nd chemo.  My only symptom was difficulty swallowing, so I knew that treatment was working when I could swallow food normally again.

In July 2016, diagnosed Stage IV with a single small met to the liver, plus a few lymph nodes in my chest cavity. Adenocarcinoma at the gastroesophageal junction, main tumor about 3 cm.  Chemo only, FOLFOX for 12 cycles.  No radiation, no surgery.  Supplemented with high doses of curcumin throughout treatment and intermittent fasting. Complete response, no evidence of disease on PET/CT scan in Februa...

Meldoiecare, I see that you aren't getting any responeses.  Please try the Smart Patients forum, it seems to be much more active and there are a lot of knowledgable people over there.  Here is the link: https://www.smartpatients.com/conversations

Hello!  Another update.  It's been a year since I've posted last, and I am still doing fine!  Full remission, taking low dose Xeloda every other week.  Last scan was December 6, 2017, all clear.  I have another routine scan coming up in late April.  I still take curcumin every day, and will for the rest of my life.  July 23 will be 2 years since my stage IV diagnosis. I was Her-2 n...

Hi Doc!  I am 48 years old and was diagnosed with HER-2 negative EC at the GE junction with nodal mets and a single small liver met in July 2016, which classified me Stage IV.  I completed 12 rounds of FOLFOX, the last 3 without Oxaliplatin due to worsening peripheral neuropathy. I did not have any radiation.  I also have been taking Pantoprazole since about May 2016, as my family doctor initially thou...

Here is the best one that I have found: https://www.smartpatients.com/signin They have specific communities for the type of cancer involved.  To be honest, I'm not really impressed with CancerCompass.  I've had entire threads disappear from my feed.  Smart Patients is much better.

I don't believe that there are any effective alternatives to chemotherapy.  There are complementary therapies that I believe can greatly enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy, but nothing that can replace it.  I combined curcumin supplements and intermittent fasting with traditional chemo (FOLFOX) and went from an initial stage 4 diagnosis to NED in about 6 months of treatment.  Esophageal cancer ...

Life Extension Super Bio-Curcumin, 400 mg capsules.  I took 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening for the entire time that I was on Folfox chemo, for a total of 2400 mg a day. This particular brand has very high bio-availability, which is the single most important consideration for effectiveness, in my opinion.  Do an internet search for curcumin bioavailability and BCM-95, which is the formulation that th...
