My 76 year old mother with stage 3 local advanced pan cancer surrounding her SMA and SMV has already received chem with a reduced dose of gemzar/abraxone due to low wbc is now scheduled for standard chemo/rad. I am concerned over the toxicity of chemo/rad and have been looking into proton radiation.  Is there anyone familar with this type of raditation?

thank you. My mother is 76 and the oncologist at Piedmont Atlanta feels that gemzar/abraxane would be best for my mom, since fulfurinox is so toxic. I am unsure and would like to get a second opinion. She has a strong heart with no other health issues. Currently she is in pain and is at stage 3

We are located in Atlanta, GA My mother has not started chemo. Her oncologist was suggesting 3 weeks and 1 week off on gemzar and Abraxane. Then she would have 5-FU with radiation. What is SBRT radiation? I am just 9 months out of chem/radiation for anal cancer and know that it was called targeted radiation.

Thank you so much for the advice. The doctor said that he usually does 4. I am praying the doctor is successful the first time.
