Hey JPaul,

The surgeon didn't think I had a swollen node, but I know I have a lump in that area, so am going to get a scan on it ( Ultrasound) just to be safe, I've had alot of cysts pop up of late, and my GP thinks it might be that or just a very firm neck muscle.. but it's between my collar boan and my neck muscles, like between that triangle bit area, so guess I'll find out soon enough.

I think my ENT was thinking cancer because I had many symptoms also, plus I've been a smoker for yonks, since I was a kid, it turned out my nodules were ulcerated, and they looked pretty concerning to her, so she did err on the side of caution.

I've been lucky I've had and have got very thourough GP and other docs, who don't umm and err, just get straight to it.

I hope all is well with you, stay positive hey

Hugs

Well, I would just like to say, I have been to the head and neck surgeon, and thankfully, I did not need a biopsy, I have nodules on my vocal cords, all else is good, I do not have cancer, instead I must learn to not use my voice as much .. in essence to shut up.

I wish you all well in your treatments, and even though no one replied, it was good to know this site existed so that if anything was wrong, I had a place to come to learn and discuss with others.

Well wishes to all.. hugs

Just thought I'd see whether there are any other Australians here on the Head and Neck thread? It might be useful to share our stories, treatment experiences and provide support and recommendations to each other.

Yep, Sydney here

Just joined because tomorrow I go and see a Head and Neck surgeon with possible vocal cord cancer for a biopsy, though not sure if I will get the biopsy tomorrow, or they will just look at what I got. My ENT was very worried, infact I wasn't worried till she contineously threw around the cancer word. I told her, till I get the biopsy, I'm not going to get all up in a tiff.. so, G'day from Sydney.. Wish me luck.

Hi, I'm new here, so thank you for having me.

I'm not sure what to write, so I guess I'll start at the start. I am a smoker since I was 14yrs old, am now 48yrs young, still feel like I'm 23 lol. I've had a cough for a few years, and then I began to lose my voice at intervals. This latest time, it's lasted over 6 weeks (not completly lost, just lost range and is husky). I was concerned enough to see my GP. He sent me for a chest xray/CT scan, and for an appointment with the Ear/nose/throat Dr. Done those, the ENT saw so mething growing on my left vocal cord, think she said it was a white growth, and she tried to show me but I couldn't see because she had her hands all up infront of my eyes. She was very concerned and started throwing around the cancer word, and has hooked me up with a Head and Neck Surgeon appointment asap, that is tomorrow! I am a little worried, but a glass half ful kind of person, I figure if it is cancer, then I'll get on with it and get something done about it. What concerns me at the moment is my left cervical lymph node has grown, it's firm, big, but not sore, it wasn't there when I saw the ENT. I'll prolly get the Head and Neck surgeon to take a look tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else who has had vocal cord cancer ever have their lymph nodes swell up and if so, is this a bad thing? does it mean cancer is in the lymph node also? Anyways, I really needed to just write something down tonight as I am a little nervous about tomorrow. I put on a brave face for my partner because he is a worry wart and I know he is worried. I stay positive, even if it is cancer, for him. I am hoping I won't need to come back here, but the way the ENT was throwing around,  the cancer word at me and being soo concerned I'm thinking I just may be back sooner than I think. I'm supposed to be getting a biopsy, but I think this first visit to the H/Neck surgeon will be just to let her check me out.. Unless they do biopsies in their rooms/office??? I really don't know what will happen.

If anyone has any information about the lymph nodes, would be happy to hear from you.

Thanks in advance
