Thanks everyone.

Hi everyone,

I will be starting opdivo/nivolumab injection tomorrow for mRCC. Votrient kept my RCC in check for about 3 years but now seeing some new spots in the peritoneum. So, my oncologist is asking me to stop Votrient and start nivolumab.

Just curious how long it takes for the side effects to start. Anyone here who took nivolumab injection? How did you handle the side effects?

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

My father is 64 years old. He got a partial nephrectomy done in Sep 2013 for mRCC. The RCC came back after about 2 years around Oct 2015. He started votrient 400mg for about 1 year 2 months. He could not tolerate votrient 800mg. He was getting high blood pressure and protein in urine (nephrotic syndrome).

He responded well to Pazopanib/votrient(400 mg) and the number of spots reduced and their sizes kept going down until Sep 2016.

In Sep of last year (Sep 2016), he had one remaining spot in the peritoneum. The size was 9x8mm in size with a max SUV of 7.2 (Previously measured 1.5 x 1.4cm in size and shows a max SUV of 4.7)

In Feb of this year (Feb 2017), that spot has increased in size and metabolic activity. This now measures about 1.2 x 1.2 cm in size with a max SUV of 12.5 (Previously measured 9x8mm in size with a max SUV of 7.2)

His medical oncologist is recommending switching to Sutent. But, we are concerned that Sutent has worse side effects. Should he switch to 2nd line since votrient is not working? Should he increase votrient dose to 800mg and try to tolerate it?

Is cyberknife a good option for him? Maybe, it can remove that last spot.

I would love to hear anyone's opinion on this from some one who has gone through this before.

Thanks.
