Good afternoon.

My husband (@40) was dx with stage IIB, had esophagectomy (Ivor-Lewis), had follow-up chemo, and has had clear scans since.  He is +5 years post-op.  He has had no other health problems until this.

In the last year he has had problems with dropping blood sugars, with no rhyme or reason. I am a nurse with a good understanding of Diabetes, and this was never a concern until recently.

His A1C was 6.2, with a average blood sugar of 131.  Everytime he experiences symptoms his blood sugars are below 55, once in 30's.  We have never gotten a reading over 100 with any symptoms.

My questions/thoughts are that this is stemming from an absorption issue and I would like for him to see his original surgeon or a endocrinologist- I just find it hard to believe he has DM but no high bs readings or symptoms, only low bs symptoms?

Has any other post-op survivors had issues like this?
