CAT scan. You will know right away. No, removal is not always the case. Depends if there even is a tumor at all and if so, how large. When was your last CT or similar type scan of your abdominal area??

THis is not encouraging. The drugs used, however, are NOT chemo. Typically, today, they are immune system catalysts. They do have side effects but I would call your doc immediately to see if there is anything still to be done with some of the available drugs to see if these tumors can be reversed. Time is clearly short so you need to act quickly. Something like Opdivo could be a perfect genectic and metabolic fit.

Where do you live? There are a lot of treatments to try. What treatments has he had> Did he have surgery?

Seems a week in the hospital suggests more significant surgery vs. some simple emoblization ..........

Bilateral is unfortunate but manageable. Clearly, surgeons want to preserve viable tissue. The smaller lesion in the R will be partial. Hard to say with the left. Where it is in the kidney might play a role. The good news (lets focus on that) both are relatively small and as long as they are contained, as it appears they are, you will have a happy outcome.

Where is it located in the kidney? Such a slow grower, 2.5 is not terribly large. If it has its genesis far from RV, you can probably wait. .5 to 1 CM per year. 3.5 is still well within Stage 1. What you know can hurt you -  mentally. My tumor was probably 2.5 CM 15 years before I got it out at 11 CM. That was 2013. Stage 2 and 5 years later, no problems after a radical. I think you have time. Best of luck and c...

BTW, I had my surgery in 9.13 and I only recently feel fully healed and can touch the surgery site and have a "normal" senstation.

Normal. Deep cut through a lot of tissue and muscle. The settling and healing is a process. Dont rush it. It is just a couple of months.
