A question for those of you who have had surgery to remove brain tumors. Is nose bleeds common? Should we be worried? Thanks!

The dr mentioned this type of radiation or they may have to go back in and remove more tumor. The only side effect from surgery so far is her eyesight is blurry in one eye. It has improved slowly. The tumor was close to the optical nerve. After surgery they told us they thought they got all of it. Yesterday they wasn't sure and they want to do a MRI and go from there. We really had no idea how sick she was before t...

So we was told today that this may be the radiation they use on my daughters brain tumor depending on what her next MRI shows. Anyone had this? What are some of the side effects?

That is great that she is well and no recurrence so far! Does she have MRIs often still? What kind of side effects did she have with the chemo and radiation? We go Wednesday to see what they think we should do next. Thank you for your comment.

I live in Kentucky. we are going to the Markey Cancer Center at UK. They are doing genetic testing that hasn't came back yet. I did read today that this tumor is possibly genetic. It did say there is a 90% survival rate if the tumor is totally removed. The bad thing is everything I have read from survivors is that it will grow back. Your very right about this being overwhelming. Our community has reached out an...

All the research I have done has conflicting treatments. It is a rare tumor and I think 10 years ago they really didn't know how to treat it. I did read a recent article about proton therapy. We are just beginning this process and we haven't met with Drs to see what we do next. I have read that some don't have radiation or chemo but the tumor grows back. Actually every survivor story I have read so far the tumor ret...

My 25 year old daughter was just diagnosed with pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma tumor with extensive necrosis. Any information on this tumor would be appreciated. We know it is rare and I have been reading everything I can about it. We need to know what to ask the doctors and what treatments work or don't work. Hoping to connect with other people with this to gain support and information. Thanks!
