RE: Heart Burn

by mascotty02 - November 30, 2017

HI, sorry this is a little late in gettting back to you,

hope everything goes well with the chemo, sorry you have had to hit these forums but everyone is great on here and Macmillan pages.

I had heartburn bad when I had chemo and as you say the Zantac and others didnt touch the sides (No pun intended) besy you speak to your cancer nurse and she will get you a prescription for something that works, cant remember what I was prescrbed but it dissapeared within an hour of taking them, the other thing I found helpfull was a simple glass of milk, hope this helps

take care

your quote:-

"YOu should really go get that checked i was swollen but i had alot of back pain still do.. but i had testicular cancer that spread to my stomac.. 7 pound tumor when tghey actully started to listen to me. when ur a young male tellin them your in pain you usally get shafted.. "

you are right in a way, I am waiting to go into remission with this testicular cancer hell and you do have to keep on top of this with this kind of thing, this is to anyone going through the same young or old as I had a nightmare....waiting game... when I was diagnosed with this dam cancer, in the end I called the hospital and advised this is my life, I am in pain and  STATE:- 'I NEED something doing NOW'  this is my life we are playing the waiting game on, they soon had appointments and scans etc within a week, so dont ignore this please be on top of them all times..

take care

Hey

have been given the option for carboplatin single treatment in the next 2 weeks, this was for stage 1 seminoma, am also on testosterone injection every 12 weeks, any advice on this as my other option was 3 days in hospital 2 weeks at home and so on for 6 weeks. I have opted for the carboplatin single treatment, has anyone had this or going through this at the moment, and may possibly what to expect, am a bit scared on this one so any advice on this one treatment would be appreciated and thanks

Hi Mrs Hale2010,

how did you get on with your hubby? I hope he has sought some advice from the doc, yea am a man and yea a little like your hubby, January I found a lump in my right testicle and put it off for a couple of weeks, it then flared up quite large, I swallowed my pride and went to the GP, this stage the doc wasnt to alarmed and gave me 3 week course of antibiotics, the lump went down after the second week and then well, I was well blessed. went straight back and he reffered me to urology dept and then the bad news, I dont wanna scare you.. was told it is cancer and admitted me that week, my right one as removed. I have now an appointment this week into Christies Hospital, cancer hospital where they are currently planning a combination chemo/radiotherapy as it has spread to my lymph nodes, scared yes.. but I know what it is coming to terms with it and wish now I had gone back a little earlier, the surgeon did say that he thinks he caught it before it got out of hand. please get hubby to get it checked a.s.a.p, seriously it can be life or death, I am pretty lucky as again consultant waspleased that he may have taken all away.

Take care and let us know how he is doing and push him hard to do it.

Mark

Hey JulieM,

sorry about the long delay in getting back to you, I am being reffered to Christies Hospital in Manchester this friday, pretty scared now, but thinks hopefully moving along as it seemed long delays getting reffered. am hoping to find out what the plan of action is also so will keep you uupdated, I have started injections for the testosterone ir will be tomorrow morning, sorry to hear about hubby and the colon problems, I hope this can be cured completley soon.  appreciate your plan there and will update this shortly

take care

Hey

I have heard of you losing hair through this treatment but found out recently that you have to ask for a 'cold cap' they will not offer you this and you have to ask, it is a cap that freezes the follicles whilst your on the treatment and you have to leave it on for approx 20 mins afterwards, how true this is I am unsure, but am going to ask when I start my treatment in the next few weeks, but I must stipulate you do have to ask for it.

Hope this helps

Mark

Hey

I have had both my testicle removed due to tumours two weeks ago and now waiting for results and scans to go ahead before deciding on radiotherapy, I have accepted the reason why they took them both away but due to the testosterone levels will be on drugs for the rest of my life, does anyone know regarding testicular transplants, I understand that this has been done several times with complete success, I am also aware of rejected tissues etc, but am willing to give this a go if it was offered, I have a meeting with my consultant next week and would it be worth me asking him regading this or is he going to laugh it out of the room, any views and advice would be appreciated.

Regards
