I wanted to let those who might have read my wife's story in previous posts on this board know that after 4 hard years of fighting she passed away on Sunday June 9, 2019. A quick recap of major events goes something like this: July 2015 CT scan shows 5 cm mass in dome of bladder. July 2015 partial cystectomey surgery removed tumor 6.0cm x 4.5cm x 4.0cm. Pathology report showed no lymph node involvement and all cle...

It's been over a year since I posted on this forum about my wife's experience battling urachal cancer so I thought an update might be in order. Rather than repeating what I've already posted I'll refer you to my post of 12-12-17 a couple pages back which details everything up to that point and simply report what's happened since then. It's now been 3 1/2 years since her initial diagnosis and she's doing reasonably w...

Limarick, since you asked for information on immunotherapy I'll tell you my wife's story. She was first diagnosed and had surgery for urachal cancer in July 2015. At that time they removed the dome of her bladder. The pathology report after surgery showed clear margins and no lymph node involvement. The doctors said she was in the clear and wouldn't even need chemo, they'd just monitor her closely for a while. In N...

Wow, just from the information I'm getting from your short post it seems like his doctor is writing him off. Don't stand for that! My wife was diagnosed with urachal cancer in July 2015. They removed the dome of her bladder and thought they had got it all. But after 6 rounds of chemo the cancer came back in Nov 2016. At that time they scheduled another surgery in which they were going to either remove more of her bl...

Please give my wife a call. I sent you a private message with the number. Your case sounds exactly like the way my wife's started. UTI's that wouldn't clear up, then CT scan and cytoscopy to confirm a 5 cm tumor in dome of bladder. She had the dome of her bladder removed at UPMC Shadyside 2+ years ago. She would love to talk to you.

EHouse9, My wife has been fighting urachal cancer for almost two years now. In reading your post I'm wondering if you might get lucky and it not be cancer. I say that based on her experience. She was having persistent UTI's also and after 3 rounds of antibiotics failed to stop the problem she was sent for a CT scan. The scan findings said in part "There is a 5cm mass communicating with the anterior aspect of the dom...

It's been quite a while since I gave an update on my wife's condition so I wanted to let everyone know she is doing well. For those who don't know she was diagnosed with linitis plastica in November 2015. She is being treated at the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh. The doctors have told us the disease is not curable but they can control it, possibly for a good while. She had 6 rounds of chemo after which a PET/C...

I just realized it's been almost a year since I last posted here, so I thought I'd give an update on my wife's ongoing battle. To refresh your memory she had surgery for urachal cancer on July 30, 2015. Post surgery pathology showed all clear margins and no lymph node involvement. Her surgeon said he was certain he had got all the cancer but he wanted her to see a medical oncologist for an opinion on whether chemo w...

We met with Sue's doctor yesterday prior to her 5th chemo treatment. We asked what the long term treatment plan looks like at this point. He said that he wants one more cycle of chemo (6 total) then he'll schedule a scan. If things look as good as he expects on that scan she will then go off the 3 drug chemo (cisplatin, 5-FU and herceptin) and just get maintenance. This will be just the drug herceptin infused once ev...
